5 Easy Pieces For The Dog Days Of Summer

It’s summer & the living is “supposed” to be easy, right?? If that were the case, my whole closet would be dresses because they are the most effortless way to look pulled together - especially when you’re sweltering! To wit, here are a few new pieces that have helped me keep cool these days + a few I have my eye on…..

Do you know the new brand Amour Vert? I love to support them because they design organic, sustainable fashions made in the U.S. (mostly by women-owned studios in the SF Bay area) with super soft fabrics and clean lines.

I got the Hedi dress above in navy & wear it so much that my daughters teased me….and thus, I broke down and got a second one in black.  You can dress it up or down, & although it’s pleated, the fabric is very substantial so you don’t need to think about ironing it every time.

I also love Garnet Hill (New Hampshire company - woot woot!). I got a couple dresses from them earlier this summer, but they’re sold out now — love this one, The Olivia Silk Dress, still in stock & a bargain at $78.

Another option from Amour Vert is the Vivian Knit Dress, which has great movement (who wants anything tight when it’s so hot out?!!). Available in navy or black….

Ok, I have not pulled the trigger on this one yet but the reviews for this Amour Vert jumpsuit are so praise-worthy, I’m thinking of moving out of my dress-cum-uniform to see for myself....

I get the feeling that this jumpsuit is as comfy as PJ’s yet slightly more appropriate for going out (although my husband & I did meet a neighbor in Georgetown recently who was wearing stylish gray pajamas out in public - so maybe that’s a thing??)

Last but not least, also on my Wish List, is Amour Vert’s Desiree Drawstring dress, which looks about as easy & forgiving as any dress could, yet cute stripes & shoulder detail give it a little polish.
