Top 5 Movies/Shows for Cabin Fever
As we’re all still processing the turn of events & coping with a LOT of family togetherness, I thought I’d send along my favorite kind of therapy: MOVIES. All five of these movies/shows have an element of travel & sophisticated dialogue….which let’s just say I’m bit nostalgic for as I sit here in a very frumpy sweatpants/PJs outfit, with background noise of my daughter using blender for a smoothie, my husband talking loudly on international conference call & the dog scratching on door to be let in. Calgon, take me away!!
First up is Patrick Melrose. Key elements: Benedict Cumberbatch, Jennifer Jason Leigh, England + the South of France. Need I say more?! It’s riveting.
Next up: Mozart in the Jungle - several seasons of it to enjoy (an Amazon Original Series). It’s a comic romp which goes from NYC (behind the scenes of the New York Symphony) to Venice with hilarious, fast-paced dialogue. Too many amazing character actors in it to count!
Have you seen the Kominsky Method? Set in LA, it stars Michael Douglas as an aging acting teacher who gives a brilliant performance. (A Netflix Original Series)
Ok, this is a weird one but incredible: Finding Vivian Maier (Netflix). It’s a documentary about an unknown & prolific street photographer who was discovered by the art world posthumously. HIGHLY recommend.
Did you miss A Very English Scandal when it came out? Pretty much anything with Hugh Grant gets my attention & this movie (Amazon Original) based on true story re: sex scandal with high-profile member of Parliament does not disappoint!
Last but not least, one of my FAVORITE documentaries is Minimalism: A Documentary About the Important Things by these two young guys who are leading a less-is-more movement now. In full disclosure, my husband thinks the documentary is a downer (Less stuff? What??!) but I took it as a very brave & uplifting look at making room and time for what matters most - people, beauty, experiences….See what you think & let me know!
So slap on the Do Not Disturb sign (Exhibit A: mine below) & pull yourself out of the family scene for just a brief interlude to a far-away place. You’ll feel better, I promise!
What shows are you into these days? I need more suggestions for myself! I’m up here in NH for a seemingly endless duration….
Lastly, I had incredible time at the Design Influencers Conference & have SO many new things I want to try on the blog & in the online shop, so stay tuned. Hope you all are safe & healthy & not going too stir-crazy!!
